Spotify sees significant surge in video podcast streaming this year

Spotify has revealed major growth in video podcast streaming, with new data from its Q3 earnings showing the format rapidly gaining traction among creators and listeners worldwide.

The platform now hosts nearly half a million video podcasts, marking a significant rise in global creator participation and audience reach. More than 390 million Spotify users have streamed a video podcast this year, an increase of 54% compared to last year.

Spotify says time spent with video content has more than doubled over the past year, driven largely by the growing popularity of video podcasts.

The company also credits its Spotify Partner Program, launched in January, for accelerating adoption – video podcast consumption through the programme is up more than 80%.

It says the figures highlight “strong creator momentum” and a “global shift in how audiences engage with podcasts.”

Spotify’s video ambitions are set to grow even further, with new collaborations in development.

These include a deal with Netflix to stream shows from The Ringer and Spotify Studios across both platforms in early 2026, and an agreement bringing The Ringer’s most popular podcasts to Samsung TV Plus.
