STV Radio Football Show podcast special episode after Scotland’s victory

A special episode of the STV Radio Football Show podcast was recorded early this morning.

Just hours after Scotland secured their first World Cup qualification since 1998 with a historic win over Denmark, presenters Ronnie Charters, Ewen Cameron and producer Callum Bell reunited at 8am this morning for an immediate reaction podcast.

Running on only two hours’ sleep, Ronnie arrived bleary-eyed but buzzing, bringing with him the story of a brand-new chant created in the bar where he watched Kenny McLean’s unforgettable stoppage time wondergoal.

In a clip released from the episode, Ronnie describes standing with a venom in each hand and a See You Jimmy hat on when the DJ suddenly cut the music.

As the room fell quiet, fans around him broke into a spontaneous chant of “Kenny McLean from the halfway line,” which quickly swept across the bar as supporters surged forward to join in.

Ronnie says the entire place “went bonkers” as Scotland sealed their long-awaited return to the world stage.

The special episode goes beyond the celebrations, with Ronnie and Ewen reflecting on the emotional weight of last night’s match and what it meant to millions of fans across the country.

Ronnie describes it as one of the greatest nights in modern Scottish football, capturing the shared joy, relief and togetherness that followed the final whistle.

Ewen adds his own emotional account, explaining that he spent the night watching clips of supporters celebrating nationwide.

Watching McLean’s goal with his family moved him to tears and left him describing the feeling as one of his proudest moments following the national team.

The episode offers a breakdown of a night already cemented in Scotland’s sporting history and is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and STV Player.

STV Radio, Scotland’s new mainstream music station for listeners aged thirty five and over, launches in early 2026.
