Sara Cox’s independent podcast The Teen Commandments has hit one million downloads since its launch in February.
Co-hosted with her best friend of three decades, hairdresser Clare Hamilton, the podcast is described as a survival guide for parents facing the often-baffling behaviour of teenagers.
Drawing on their own teenage chaos while raising five children between them, Sara and Clare mix hilarity, honesty and lived experience to tackle the highs and lows of modern parenting.
Sara Cox said: “When we started this pod in the shed at the bottom of my garden, we had no idea just how much we were about to tap into something special.
“Our growing army of listeners have welcomed me and Clare into their lives as we all try to make sense of the madness of the teen years.
“I’m so proud of my bezzie, representing the hard-working single mums out there. Every episode she’s been an incredible combination of hilarious, honest and vulnerable. I can’t wait to see where we take the podcast next.”
Clare Hamilton added: “Teen Commandments is so much fun to do. I love connecting with our listeners — it honestly feels like we’re all in it together with loads of lols along the way.
“I’m learning loads from Sara, yet belly laughing the whole time — the dream combo. And the best part is, we’ve only just begun.”
The podcast has covered everything from rebellious antics like setting hotel rooms on fire in South Korea to humorous confessions involving procrastination, as well as a bizarre story about a listener stumbling across Pamela Anderson’s missing son.
Fans have praised it as “hilarious, warm and full of 90s nostalgia,” while The Telegraph noted the duo’s “undeniable chemistry of lifelong friends.”
Live appearances have further cemented its success. Since launch, Sara and Clare have sold out their Dayfever event at Crossed Wires, attracted the biggest Library Tent crowd at Camp Bestival this year and been selected by Apple as one of its Best Podcasts of the Year.
Episodes are available weekly on all major podcast platforms.
