Episode 8 of comedy podcast That’s a First hosted by Tom Lucy and Maisie Adam features Irish model Vogue Williams.
She talks to Tom and Maisie about family life with Spencer Matthews, horrendous sit-down-in-the-shower hangovers, her first modelling job and early childhood memories.
Vogue says she’s glad she waited before having children because she and her husband Spencer are at a stage where they can still do everything, enjoy their lives and enjoy their children too. It’s only now, having had children, she realises how much her mum did for her.
Tom asks about going out and if having children has made a difference to it. Vogue answers that she isn’t much of a drinker and her husband ‘Spenny’ doesn’t drink anymore, but they do enjoy going out to dinner and reveals the last time she had a hangover – it was a sit down in the shower hangover!
“I need a bench, that’s exactly what I need,” she recalls thinking, “But then I got out of the shower and I was like, ‘I still can’t stand up’. I had to get Spenny to go get me a coke and a bar of chocolate and I was like ‘I’m not drinking again’.”
Talking about her first modelling job, Vogue recalls she looked like the Incredible Hulk after a bad hairdo and the job was for Pepe Jeans, so she ended up looking like Worzel Gummidge!
Her early childhood memories are interesting: “We were kind of a bit feral as kids,” she says, discussing some of the antics she and her sister got up to. It includes blaming cars driving through puddles making them wet and scaping chewing gum off the ground because they weren’t allowed it.
When she first met Spencer her first thoughts about him weren’t very pleasant, but they quickly changed. She talks about how they got to know each other and admits she hadn’t watched him on Made in Chelsea but has seen bits now.
“He wasn’t the nicest in Made in Chelsea,” she says, “But when people got to know him when we did our own show, they were really shocked at the way he was. He’s completely different to what anyone would have seen on Made in Chelsea,” she adds.
