We Are North Nashville podcast concludes with two bonus episodes

We Are North Nashville, a multimedia storytelling project dedicated to preserving the lived experiences of elders in the community, is releasing two special bonus podcast episodes.

Launched in 2024 by artist, writer and community organiser M. Simone Boyd, the project has combined oral histories, essays, portraits and gatherings to honour North Nashville’s legacy.

It was inspired by the passing of Simone’s mother-in-law, which underscored the urgency of recording stories before they are lost.

The first of the final episodes arrives today, 19 September and features children and grandchildren from the 1980s to the present reflecting on a lineage of poets, makers and leaders raised by North Nashville’s enduring spirit of love.

A week later, on 26 September, the second episode brings together longtime elders and newer residents to discuss the meaning of showing up for one another. In a time of division, the episode reminds listeners that neighbourliness still has the power to heal and create belonging.

Supported by journalist Andrea Tudhope and writer-editor Steve Haruch, the project has placed storytelling at the centre of community connection. Both have worked to amplify local voices, bringing depth and visibility to the experiences of North Nashville across generations.

To mark the conclusion of the podcast, We Are North Nashville will host a sunset celebration on 21 October, inviting community members to gather, honour the stories shared, and pay tribute to the elders who contributed their wisdom.

The project’s final episodes aim to link past and present, ensuring that the resilience and creativity of North Nashville continues to inspire. Episodes will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Castbox, Amazon, Pocket Casts and all major platforms.
