Westfield launches podcast series for students hosted by 1Xtra’s Reece Parkinson

Shopping and leisure giant, Westfield has launched a new podcast series to share the career paths and stories of retail founders and young entrepreneurs as part of its annual Student Event.

The aim of the ‘How I Got Here’ series is to educate, inspire and motivate students and entrepreneurs.

Each of the eight episodes features a different business founder discussing their career journeys, how they got to where they are, and offering useful business advice. Different types of jobs and roles from food and fitness to music and the arts will be featured in the episodes.

BBC 1xtra presenter Reece Parkinson hosts the series in conversation with the co-founder of Gymbox David Cooper, TV finance guru Emmanuel Asuquo as well as Judy Joo – social media influencer and founder of Korean street food outlet, Seoul Bird, amongst other guests.

Alyson Hodkinson, General Manager of Westfield Stratford City comments: “As we can’t host our full-scale Student Event in person this year, we wanted to reach our younger visitors in a new way.

“The ‘How I Got Here’ podcast is a great way to share the stories of the entrepreneurs and retailers from our centres with students. We still have some fantastic exclusive offers at the Student Lounges to give a great experience, bringing those new to London into our centres safely.”

Student Lounges have opened at both Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City from now until 9 October and provide a dedicated space within the centres where they can pick up a free snack plus take a selfie or two!
