Robert Nicholson has been appointed Director of Programmes at independent producer Whistledown Productions.
Nicholson, currently a Senior Editor based in the Berlin office will lead the company’s factual slate supplying new stories and formats to broadcasters and podcast platforms across Europe.
The indie, which also has production bases in London and Glasgow, has been a leading supplier to BBC Radio for over twenty years, making regular programmes such as Radio 4’s Feedback, The Reunion and Over to You for the BBC World Service.
It also produces for Audible, and won Podcast of the Year at the British Podcast Awards for the audio porn series Press Play, Turn On.
Nicholson’s work with reporter Nick Wallis, starting in 2020, exposed the many twists and turns of the Post Office’s IT scandal for the award-winning series The Great Post Office Trial and he also leads the team of producers working on Politico’s Westminster Insider.
“Robert has played a key role in strengthening the reach and impact of our journalism” says Whistledown’s Managing Director David Prest. “Independent production companies have become leading forces in UK audio production, and I know that Bob shares Whistledown’s vision for the future expansion of the sector”.
