A new mental health and wellbeing podcast, Working In is launching with a three-part series featuring actor, comedian, writer, and trailblazer in the mental health sphere, Stephen Fry.
Launching as part of World Mental Health Day, the podcast series aims to help listeners learn, optimise, and maximise brain health and mental wellbeing through bitesize, digestible and actionable interviews with the world’s leading scientists and experts on the topic.
The first two episodes will be available on Friday 9 October and the final, third episode on Sunday 11 October.
As one of the leading activists for mental health, Stephen shares his experience of living with Bipolar, and how this has developed along the course of his life. The conversation explores how mental health impacted his school years and how kleptomania sent him to prison at the age of 17.
Stephen says on the podcast: “There are two opposite points of view you should have about mental illnesses, like bipolar disorder. One is you must never underestimate the seriousness of mental health disorders, and they should never be taken lightly. They can lead to serious ill health and death – we know that the suicide figures in this country and around the world are very alarming.
“Secondly, you must also bear in mind that some of the most remarkable, fulfilled, and inspiring people who have ever lived have had a mental illness.”
During the conversation, Stephen shares his thoughts on intelligence and the role of the education system, upbringing and class have on one’s confidence and the ability to shift views on our own intelligence. In the final episode, he discusses our attraction to wickedness, greed, sins, and philosophy.
The podcast is brought to you by Heights, a brain health and performance company. It’s hosted by the company’s co-founder Dan Murray-Serter, who suffered from chronic anxiety and insomnia, which he cured by learning about (and implementing what he learned) nutrition for the brain.
‘Working In’ with Heights podcast is available on Apple, Spotify and all major podcast platforms, launching 9 October 2020.
