Bloomberg reports that Youtube is looking for an executive to look after the increasing number of podcasts on its site.
Even though podcasting represents a small part of the company’s business, the article suggests this may be a sign that Youtube’s owner, Google is beginning to take the sector more seriously.
Podcasting is a small business relative to online video. YouTube generated almost $20 billion in advertising sales last year, while the entire podcasting business didn’t top $1 billion in the U.S. But podcast advertising sales are expected to double this year.
