If you’ve ever wondered what radio producers actually do, there’s a new podcast that delves into it.
Re: Producer is a series celebrating the art of making radio, putting some of the industry’s finest production talent under the spotlight.
The podcast is an independent production by Mark Jeeves and Jenny Nelson, who both work together at Bauer Media’s Scala Radio.
Each episode features a conversation with a radio producer about their career and the industry as a whole, reflecting on how it has changed over the decades.
Guests offer advice to aspiring producers, explaining the key skills that are integral to the role. They reveal their biggest personal successes, the radio shows they love, and what they think radio will sound – and look – like in the future.
Although producers often see another side of the radio business that’s rarely exposed to listeners, this podcast isn’t about that. There’s no naming and shaming of difficult talent or revelations of insider gossip. Instead, Re: Producer aims to be a celebration of the all-too-often unsung individuals who have one of the most creative, varied, at times frustrating but ultimately rewarding jobs in media!
