Apple Podcasts will start to automatically create and display transcripts starting this spring.
The company says it is committed to designing the best products and services for everyone and this will make it easier for anyone to access podcasts.
Although the transcript will be created by Apple, creators can choose to provide their own. Listeners will be able to read the full text of an episode, search the episode for a specific word or phrase, and tap the text to play from that point in the episode.
Those transcripts generated by Apple will be available shortly after the podcast is published. If part of an episode changes with inserted audio, it will not be displayed. Music lyrics will also not be displayed in the transcripts.
Transcripts are available with iOS 17.4 for podcasts in English, French, German, and Spanish with back catalogue episodes being added over time.
