Spotify is bringing guided workouts and fitness content into its core platform for users.
The company has launched a new fitness category, combining workout sessions with its existing mix of music, podcasts, audiobooks and video.
This places structured exercise content alongside audio, in order to make the platform part of users’ daily routines rather than a passive listening experience.
Free and Premium users can access curated fitness playlists and content from creators including Yoga With Kassandra, Caitlin K’eli Yoga and Chloe Ting.
The addition expands Spotify’s catalogue into wellness, building on existing behaviour where users already rely on music and playlists to support workouts.
A key part of the rollout is a partnership with Peloton. Premium subscribers in supported markets can now access more than 1,400 on demand classes within their subscription.
These include sessions across strength, cardio, yoga and meditation, with no specialist equipment required.
Spotify says the expansion reflects strong user demand for fitness content. It reports that millions of users already engage with workout playlists, while nearly 70% of Premium subscribers exercise monthly. Fitness content is also among the most used features in its Prompted Playlists tool.
Roman Wasenmüller, Global Head of Podcasts at Spotify, said: “For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts. But listening was only the beginning. Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion.”
Users can find the new fitness hub by searching within the app or browsing categories. Workouts are available mainly in English, with some content offered in Spanish and German. Classes can also be downloaded for offline use.
Spotify adds that the experience is designed to work across devices, allowing users to switch between video and audio formats depending on their activity. The company plans to expand the offering further, with more creators and content expected.
