Flightcast adds Apple Podcasts video support at no extra cost

Flightcast users can now publish video podcasts to Apple Podcasts without paying additional hosting or bandwidth fees.

The video-first podcast hosting platform has added full support for video on Apple Podcasts, along with HLS video publishing, allowing creators to deliver adaptive streaming for smoother playback across different connection speeds.

The feature is available immediately to all existing customers and does not require any changes to current upload workflows.

Flightcast says all previously uploaded episodes have already been processed, so publishers can switch on video for their back catalogue with a single click.

Rox Codes, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Flightcast, said: “Flightcast has always been the video-first hosting platform.

“We’re already running hundreds of video shows, and now every one of those shows can go live with video on Apple Podcasts for all of their episodes with a single click, no re-uploads, no re-encoding.

“Video podcasting is becoming essential, but most creators don’t realize there’s much more to it than just publishing.

“Delivering seamless video experiences to Apple Podcasts and across platforms requires advanced technology like HLS streaming, which ensures smooth playback no matter the connection.

“As the landscape grows more complex, Flightcast holds itself to the highest standards, simplifying not just publishing, but analytics, experimentation, and analysis so creators can focus on growth.”

Flightcast supports video files up to 60GB, with no episode length limits and resolutions up to 4K.

The company says this removes restrictions commonly found on other hosting services, where video publishing may be capped at 720p or limited to shorter episodes.

Storage plans start at three terabytes, rising to six terabytes and 15 terabytes on higher tiers, aimed at producers managing large video libraries.

Flightcast is also enabling dynamic video advertising. Podcasters can insert their own campaigns or continue using existing programmatic audio ads, which will appear in video episodes with a static image.

Seth Silves, Chief Executive of Story On Media, said Flightcast allows producers to publish video “at the quality our audience expects” without added costs or technical limitations.

Video publishing to Apple Podcasts and HLS support are available now through the Flightcast dashboard.
