Listeners will soon be able to hear the scripted podcast series For King and Country broadcast on Harborough FM, following its initial release on podcast platforms.
The four-part comedy-drama, written by Alexander Hogg, will air as part of the Musicals Interlude Show hosted by Owen Brooks.
Episodes one and two are scheduled for 2 July, with the remaining episodes following on 9 July, each airing at around 7:20pm.
For King and Country features an ensemble cast including Alexander Hogg, Alannah Southerton and Rebecca Easen.
The narrative centres on three young friends from the West Midlands who are unexpectedly signed up for compulsory national service after an encounter with an army General. The story explores how the prospect of leaving civilian life and facing military training tests their friendship and family ties.
As the series unfolds, the characters confront the challenges of national service, with relationships both supporting and complicating their journey. Secrets emerge and the strength of their bond is put to the test, raising questions about whether they can remain united through the experience.
Alexander Hogg, who also stars in the series, has previously appeared in theatre, musical theatre, and film, including Nativity Rocks! and Kit. He began writing more frequently after collaborating with Academy Award-winning actress and writer Rachel Shenton.
For King and Country’s move to radio offers a new audience the chance to experience this character-driven story about friendship, family, and the unexpected consequences of national service.
