Bauer Media Audio expands Manchester tech team to support growth

Bauer Media Audio is building a new software development hub in Manchester to create the technology that will support its radio and audio operations across Europe.

The in-house team will develop business-critical systems for all nine Bauer Media Audio markets. The company says the new platforms will help commercial and content teams work more efficiently, while allowing local markets to tailor tools to their own needs.

By bringing more software development under its own control, Bauer Media Audio expects to speed up innovation and create systems that are easier to scale across multiple countries.

Manchester was chosen because of its strong technology talent pool and its proximity to Bauer Media Audio teams already based in the city, including those working on Rayo and cloud services. The company has also invested recently in refurbished office space there.

Bauer Media Audio President Simon Myciunka said the move was a key part of the company’s long-term strategy.

“Our investment in Manchester is a pivotal step in how we build the future of Bauer Media Audio,” he said.

“By bringing core software development in-house, we’re giving our teams across all nine markets smarter, more innovative and connected tools.”

Chief Technology Officer David Andrande said the hub would help the company build more advanced automation and deliver better insight across both broadcast and digital audio.

The company expects the investment to improve advertising performance and deliver efficiency gains through more streamlined systems.

The announcement follows Bauer Media Audio’s recent investment in its European digital infrastructure, including a new Digital Services Technology Support Team in Porto.
