Mobile podcast studio supports comedians at Fringe

Podcasting comedians attending the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August now have access to a mobile recording studio.

It’s designed to help them keep their shows running while performing at the world’s largest arts festival.

The Wel Podcast Studio operates from a Volkswagen Campervan, fully equipped with professional recording gear and able to park at convenient locations across Edinburgh.

This flexibility allows performers to record episodes, promotional clips, or guest appearances between shows, ensuring their podcast content continues throughout the busy festival period.

The studio provides all necessary equipment, including up to four Sennheiser E845 microphones, a TASCAM Portacapture X8 multi-track recorder, and an optional Sony FDR-AX43 three-camera setup for those wishing to capture video.

Performers do not need to bring any of their own kit, as everything required for high-quality audio and video recording is supplied on site.

Wel Podcast Studio staff handle the technical side of the recording process inside the van, making it straightforward for comedians and other performers to focus on their content.

At the end of each session, files are transferred directly to the client, with an editing service also available if required.

The mobile studio can meet acts at various locations throughout Edinburgh, including near major festival hubs such as George Square, Bristo Square, The Pleasance, and The Assembly Rooms, or at other locations by arrangement.

This approach is intended to minimise disruption to performers’ schedules and maximise their ability to keep producing content during the festival.
