Film podcast All The Right Movies has landed a deal with Quarto Publishing for a 2026 release.
The book, Making Movies: The Stories and Secrets Behind Hollywood’s Greatest Films, will bring the podcast’s signature deep-dive approach to print, exploring the behind-the-scenes stories of 25 classic films across five genres.
Co-authored by podcast hosts John Barker and Luke Cardy, the illustrated volume represents a natural extension of the show’s research-intensive approach, where each episode typically requires 100 hours of total team effort to produce.
The book adapts the same highly researched and engaging storytelling style that defines the podcast, specifically catered for the digital age.
Each film chapter features the kind of behind-the-scenes stories listeners hear on the show, alongside exclusive interviews with cast and crew members, visual infographics, and comprehensive production histories.
The tone of voice remains consistent with the podcast: informed yet accessible, passionate about cinema without pretension.
It’s a new format showcasing the same research depth and entertaining insights of a podcast that’s built a huge community of patrons.
“We’ve always believed that podcasting deserves the same creative standards we celebrate in the films we discuss,” says John Barker. “This book proves our approach can work across different mediums. It’s the same dedication to craft, just presented in a way that’s made for readers rather than listeners.”
The deal emerged from the podcast’s broader success, with All The Right Movies now boasting over two million podcast downloads and over one million social media followers.
This substantial digital presence, built on telling “the story of Hollywood one film at a time,” demonstrated to Quarto that the team’s research-driven approach resonates beyond audio content.
While the podcast remains the core focus and most important content, the book extends ATRM’s commitment to quality into traditional publishing whilst creating a gateway for new audiences back to the show.
For All The Right Movies, the book deal validates its approach to podcasting as a serious medium, not just for casual hobbyists.
Since launching, All the Right Movies has distinguished itself through entertainment, education, and credibility, with the hosts bringing 60+ years combined experience across film, media, and creative industries.
