The fifth season of Audacyโs investigative podcast Gone South has launched with 40 new episodes.
The Edward R. Murrow Award-winning series, written and hosted by Jed Lipinski, has previously brought in 20 million downloads. This season expands its focus beyond crime, exploring the history, culture, and power structures of the American South.
Jed Lipinski uses narrative reporting and interviews with journalists, historians, musicians, and locals to examine the regionโs enduring myths and legacies.
Episodes cover topics including the cultural meaning of the Alamo, the family history of Alex Murdaugh, and the federal indictment of New Orleansโ former mayor. Each story stands alone while contributing to a broader portrait of the South.
Lipinski is also known for his work on Huluโs Fyre Fraud and Netflix docuseries The Pharmacist and Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal.
He previously contributed to The New York Times and spent four years at The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, where his reporting earned multiple awards from the Press Club of New Orleans, the Society for Features Journalism, the Associated Press, and the Edward R. Murrow Foundation.
