Films Not Made podcast uses AI to revive lost cinema

A new podcast will use AI to visualise unmade Hollywood films.

Films Not Made launches on 3 March as a weekly video podcast that uses generative artificial intelligence to create trailers, scenes and stills for film projects that were never produced.

Hosted by award-winning producers Avi Zev Weider and Amy Hobby, the series invites writers, directors and producers to revisit scripts that stalled in development, casting plans that fell apart and projects rejected by studios.

Unlike traditional film podcasts that focus on discussion, the show uses AI tools to generate visual interpretations of the abandoned material, allowing audiences to see how these films might have looked on screen.

The producers say the format is designed to offer filmmakers a sense of closure while giving listeners insight into the creative and commercial decisions that prevent projects from being made.

Each episode combines industry conversation with practical demonstrations of the technology, positioning the podcast at the intersection of film development and emerging AI tools.

The series is aimed at screenwriters, film professionals and audiences interested in how artificial intelligence is reshaping parts of the creative process.

Amy Hobby and Avi Zev Weider bring decades of experience in film and television production, drawing on industry relationships to secure guests willing to revisit shelved or abandoned work.

Films Not Made will be released as a video podcast, reflecting the visual nature of the AI-generated material and enabling audiences to engage directly with the recreated content.

The launch comes as more podcast producers experiment with video formats and AI-assisted production techniques, raising questions about how technology might expand storytelling possibilities across audio and visual media.
