BBC Sounds is introducing a new podcast series that attempts to separate fact from fiction in football’s most unbelievable tales.
Karel Prince: Lie Detector is a six-part series hosted by Karel, who describes himself as the ‘HMRC of football’, and Anita Abayomi. Each episode features three stories from well-known football personalities, but only one is true.
Karel uses logic, evidence, and his football expertise to scrutinise every claim, relying on online research and detailed questioning to uncover the truth behind each story.
Listeners can expect a wide range of topics, from unexpected encounters and dressing room rumours to transfer sagas and remarkable matchday incidents. Every story is put under the microscope, with no claim left unchallenged.
The podcast will be available on the Football Daily feed via BBC Sounds, the BBC Football YouTube channel, and BBC Radio 5 Live.
The series is produced by Sport Social Studios and launches today, Wednesday 22 July, with new episodes released weekly.
Karel said: “I’ve always loved the stories that go on behind the scenes and the facts in and around the game. So getting the chance to become the BBC’s resident football fact checker feels like a dream.”
He added that he and Anita will be tackling a new case in each episode, exploring some of football’s lesser-known stories from over the years. Karel promised: “Some of these are crazy and it’s been a pleasure to be a part of telling them.”
