Former prisoners turned award-winning podcast hosts Zak Addae-Kodua and Jules Rowan are back for season five of their ground-breaking podcast, Life After Prison.
Zak and Jules, who both have lived experience of jail, understand that ‘getting out’ isn’t so simple. Life After Prison aims to help break the stigma of being a part of the prison system and to help answer the question on the minds of everyone leaving jail: what now?
Their open and relatable approach to sharing their own experiences has made a huge impact online, helping educate the nation about what life is really like in prison. Their dedication to breaking down barriers has resonated with audiences worldwide and saw the pair win the Best New Presenter award at the 2023 ARIAS Awards.
Series five of the podcast will continue to push boundaries with conversations and interviews. On The Sit Down – Life After Prison’s flagship show – Zak and Jules share discussions with individuals who have transformed their lives since leaving prison.
From producer and filmmaker David Navarro – best known for his YouTube content, Delinquent Nation – to Steve Gallant – who received the Queen’s Gallantry Medal after his intervention in the London Bridge Terror attack in 2019 – guests will share unique insights into the complexities of reintegration into society after serving time.
Getting Out – Life After Prison’s secondary show – tackles topics crucial to individuals facing the challenges of post-prison life. The duo discuss everything from disclosing criminal convictions and maintaining recovery from substance abuse to practical tips for sorting housing and bank accounts.
Life After Prison is funded by the National Lottery and produced by the Prison Radio Association, the charity that also runs National Prison Radio. As a radio station, National Prison Radio has a huge impact; more than 75% of prisoners listen in.
Life After Prison is available to listen to on all podcast providers as well as YouTube from today, Thursday 29 February.
