Bauer Media Audio UK launches new audio platform Rayo

Rayo, the new audio platform from Bauer Media Audio UK, has officially launched today offering hundreds of curated playlists and a range of on-demand content.

Available as an app, on the web and smart speakers, it brings together all of Bauer’s audio, with unique and relevant content for listeners.

Stations across Bauer Media’s UK portfolio including Absolute Radio, Greatest Hits Radio, KISS and Magic Radio, have launched an on-air campaign promoting the new platform to audiences, with a series of promotional trails and live reads.

Presenters including Ken Bruce, Tyler West and Penny Smith can also be found on brand social channels and the newly launched Rayo pages, showcasing the Rayo app.

Updated with new content daily, there are recommendations hand-picked Bauer’s team of DJs, presenters and special guests.

On the app right now, are exclusive performances from the Isle of Wight Festival which took place over the weekend, including highlights from the Pet Shop Boys set, and an accompanying documentary presented by actor, comedian and Pet Shop Boys mega fan, Matt Lucas.

Speaking about the new app, Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely said: “We’re constantly scrolling on our phones and switching up between live radio and playlists and Rayo now takes away so much of the hassle. With tonnes to choose from for any mood or moment, the best thing about Rayo is you can just hit play.”

Ken Bruce added: “One of the things I love most about radio – and one of the reasons I’ve been hanging around for so long! –  is how it can be so many things to so many people. Whether you want to listen to live music, new music, find a particular song, hear a track that reflects your mood it’s such an incredible medium.

“This new Rayo app is making it so much easier to do all of those things – even for a technophobe like me! So, give it a go – who knows it might become the new soundtrack to your day? Provided your day always includes stopping for PopMaster of course!”

Also, as part of the launch, Bauer’s online station aggregator Planet Radio has now rebranded as hellorayo.co.uk.

Simon Myciunka, CEO for Bauer Media Audio UK said, “This is a pivotal moment in Bauer Media Audio UK’s journey. We have an incredibly strong portfolio of brands, and millions of engaged listeners – many of whom are increasingly listening stations on connected devices.

“Rayo will bring them into the audioverse and offer a much-improved listening experience, with a daily soundtrack that is simplified, personalised and hand-picked by our team of DJs, presenters and special guests.

“Whatever their taste in music and whatever their mood, they can enjoy live and on-demand radio, from Popmaster with Ken Bruce to exclusive playlists like Super KISSTORY or 00s Workout. There really is something for everyone.”
