Daily Mail podcasts hit 30 million downloads

Downloads of Daily Mail podcasts have soared to over 30 million for the first time.

The milestone comes after a few months where multiple Mail podcasts have topped charts on both Apple and Spotify.

dmg media’s audio portfolio has expanded significantly since the appointment of award-winning producer and broadcaster Jamie East a year ago.

From a single hit podcast, The Trial of Lucy Letby, the company now boasts a double-digit chart-topping slate, covering everything from celebrity lives and gossip to sport and politics.

True crime has played a pivotal role in drawing in listeners and The Trial series has captivated audiences across the world.

‘Lord Lucan’, ‘Lucy Letby: Baby K’ and ‘The Holly Willoughby plot’ have all reached the top of the Apple and Spotify charts in recent months.

dmg media head of podcasts, Jamie East said: “To reach such an incredible milestone in such a short space of time is testament to the hard work of the podcast team as well as the unrivalled support of the editor and the whole of the wider dmg network.

“It’s also exciting as we feel we haven’t even begun to tap into our potential. We can’t wait for people to see what we’ve been cooking up.”

More podcasts are already in production, with history and health shows coming in the next few weeks and people can apply to be in the next series of Apple and the Tree now.
