Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has launched its first official podcast, Beyond the Call.
Lifting the lid on life inside the service and sharing the personal stories of the people behind it, the podcast takes listeners inside one of the UK’s largest fire and rescue services, with stories that go far beyond emergencies, focusing on dedication, compassion, and community spirit.
From firefighters on the front line to support staff behind the scenes, each episode reveals what it truly means to go “beyond the call.”
A three-part boxset is now available on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms. The first two episodes feature members of the GMFRS Armed Forces Network, exploring the strong links between the military and the fire service.
Crew Manager Andy Williams hosts the discussion alongside Group Manager JP Helliwell and Crew Manager Gaz Houldsworth, recorded at the Spearhead Foundation in Salford.
The final episode, Tackling and Preventing Wildfires, sees Station Managers Martin Cain and Russell Maden joined by Kate Hanley from the RSPB at Dovestone Reservoir. Together they discuss how prevention, education and collaboration are helping to protect local landscapes, wildlife and communities.
GMFRS says the podcast is “our way of sharing the incredible, often untold stories that define our work and the people who deliver it.”
