Voice acting podcast High Notes is back for a new series with six new episodes featuring top professionals from the worlds of gaming, animation and casting.
Hosted by voice actor Melissa Thom, the show explores behind-the-scenes stories, casting secrets and creative insights from those working at the highest level of the industry.
The new series begins with Pixar casting director Kate Hansen-Birnbaum, who shares how she entered the business, what she looks for in voice talent, and how Pixar uses anonymised auditions to reduce unconscious bias.
Future guests include Andrew Whieldon Dennis on video game voice acting, Merlin Crossingham of Aardman Animations, Jessica Jefferies on casting for mocap and games, and Tom Keegan, performance director on major titles like Call of Duty and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The series wraps up on 4th August with Bob Bergen, long-time voice of Porky Pig.
Each thirty-minute episode is aimed at professionals, beginners, and anyone curious about voice acting.
Melissa Thom has voiced projects for Rockstar, Zenimax, Google and Amazon, and is also Founder and CEO of BRAVA, a voice training platform that has worked with thousands worldwide.
“This season we’ll be lifting the curtain to reveal the reality of working within gaming and animation,” said Thom. “The aim is to demystify the voice acting world and help the next generation break through.”
High Notes is available from the BRAVA website and all major podcast platforms with season two launching on 30 June.
