Kids go to court in new “Judge Bex” podcast from Fun Kids

Children are heading to the courtroom in a new podcast from Fun Kids.

Judge Bex is the latest podcast from the children’s radio station, turning everyday family disagreements into mock court cases where young listeners get the chance to argue their side and have a final decision made.

From wanting chocolate for breakfast to coping with embarrassing parents or a dad who refuses to let his kids take baths, the podcast tackles the kinds of disputes many families will instantly recognise, but with a legal twist designed to entertain and empower children.

The podcast is presented by Bex Lindsay, who puts her law degree to use by acting as judge, listening to each case in detail and weighing up the arguments before delivering her verdict.

Each episode follows a courtroom-style format, with Bex and her team of so-called legal eagles examining the facts, cross-examining witnesses and calling on special celebrity counsel, including appearances from actors such as Hugh Bonneville.

Before any judgement is handed down, all the evidence is heard, with Bex carefully considering both sides of the argument to decide who is right, and what justice should look like in each case.

Alongside the main courtroom action, Fun Kids presenters Conor Knight and Lauren Underwood go behind the scenes, exploring the atmosphere of the court and discussing the thinking behind Judge Bex’s decisions, giving listeners extra insight into how each ruling is reached.

Two new cases are released every Tuesday, giving families regular episodes to listen to together, while encouraging children to think about fairness, reasoning and how to make their voices heard.

Fun Kids Content Controller Lloydie James Lloyd says: “The Judge Bex podcast puts children front and centre, giving them a voice on some of the most controversial issues in their lives.

“Whether it’s bedtimes or screen time, this podcast doesn’t shy away from it and gives its young audience the chance to be heard and the opportunity for justice to be served”.

Judge Bex launches today, Tuesday 6 January.
