More Than My Past tells stories of overcoming addiction or crime

The More than My Past podcast features people with inspiring stories of overcoming and breaking a cycle of addiction or crime.

The podcast is from The Forward Trust, a national charity that helps people break the cycle of addiction and offending.

Hosts, actor Jason Flemyng and addiction recovery expert Julie Muir speak to a range of inspiring people who have been through addiction, prison or both, and turned their lives around.

As the podcast attempts to break the stigma attached to addiction and conviction, the first series featured notable individuals such as Lord John Bird, the founder of the Big Issue, Alastair Campbell, Tony Adams and Jackie Malton.

Series two began with an interview with ex Prisons Minister Rory Stewart, who called for an outright ban on all short term prison sentences. The rest of the series features discussions with multiple individuals with real, serious lived experience that touch on different themes of their journeys.

These incude family background, role models, stigma, housing, education and work. Among the guests are fundraiser Speedo Mick, actor Michael Balogun and university lecturer Liz Jones.

The More Than My Past podcast is available now on all major podcast platforms.
