New agreement sees BBC Podcasts available on Nation Player mobile app
BBC Podcasts, including Radio 4’s The Coming Storm, The Archers, Newscast and the award-winning drama strand Limelight will soon be available on the fast growing Nation Player app.
In an industry first, Nation Player and the BBC have agreed to make the BBC’s leading podcasts available on its free and easy to use mobile app, available on Apple and Android.
The agreement will see BBC Podcasts taking a high-profile position on the Nation Player app main page alongside a host of other broadcasters and podcast providers.
Nation Player provides a free to join and monetized platform to a growing number of independent UK radio stations and podcast providers, including CountryLine Radio, Fun Kids, Sunrise Radio, Island FM, Shine Radio and Colourful.
Director of BBC Sounds, Jonathan Wall says: “We’re delighted to work together with Nation Player to bring listeners brilliant BBC podcasts as part of their content offer.
“This relationship will give the BBC great prominence on their app and support the growth of the newly launched Nation Player.
“It’s a brilliant example of the BBC and colleagues in commercial radio coming together to work on shared goals to support the sector, following our great work on the recent radio industry regulatory paper.”
Nation Player founder Jason Bryant added: “Nation Player is already delivering a great in car and mobile experience for dozens of independent operators. We are delighted to welcome the BBC as our latest content partner and believe their market leading podcasts will mean listeners will want to spend even more time with Nation Player.”
