Multitude is launching a brand-new podcast dedicated to the world of Kingdom Hearts.
The series was revealed during San Diego Comic Con this past weekend and will release new episodes every Sunday.
Titled Simple and Clean: A Kingdom Hearts Podcast, the show is hosted by Mischa Stanton
and Mayanna Berrin, with guests joining along the way.
Together, they explore the huge emotional world of Kingdom Hearts, the game series known
for combining Disney characters with Final Fantasy-style drama and surreal, heartfelt
storytelling.
The podcast is aimed at both die-hard fans and newcomers. Each episode promises a deep dive into the game’s many worlds, characters, relationships and confusing plot points, while also taking time to explain why it matters so much to so many people.
Stanton and Berrin call it a love letter to a story that “probably shouldn’t even exist,” but has
managed to touch a generation of fans with its bizarre sincerity.
As well as unpacking the lore and themes of the franchise, they’ll also cover music, fashion,
the fandom, and the accidental queerness that’s made Kingdom Hearts so iconic in online
spaces.
“I’ve been a Kingdom Hearts fan for most of my life,” said co-host Mischa Stanton.
“It constantly breaks my heart to see how people get scared away from this series by its
complexity and boldly earnest nature.
“With Simple and Clean, I’m so thrilled for this opportunity to prove that Kingdom Hearts
(despite itself) can be for everyone.”
Mayanna Berrin added: “I adore Kingdom Hearts in all its big shoe glory. It’s a joy and a
dream to be able to yap about it into a microphone and share that deep love with both fans
and newcomers alike. I hope the folks who listen to this podcast find a new little shred of
joy.”
