Actress Sophie Turner has appeared on this week’s episode of foodie podcast Dish, to talk about her favourite foods, cooking habits, and upcoming screen projects.
Speaking to hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Sophie confessed her love for pasta above all other foods, saying: “Listen, I have the palate of a five-year-old. I love pasta, it’s all I eat all day every day. It’s been a lifelong love.”
She revealed she has an unusual addiction to Peperami sticks too. “I have a technique with this – it’s almost like an OCD thing,” she explained. “I have to put my finger right on top of the other so that all of the flavour from the wrapper goes onto my fingers, and then I can lick my fingers. Sometimes I suck on the wrapper, but I’m not gonna do that.”
Sophie told Dish she used to run an Instagram account called Sophie’s Sausage Reviews to share her favourite sausages. “I love sausages,” she said. “My favourite has to be the ones my dad gets from his local butcher, Stevie Quigley. Shout out Stevie Quigley. Your sausages are the best.”
The Game of Thrones star also admitted she dislikes spicy food, saying even mango and lime at Nando’s is too hot for her. She described her family dinners growing up as phone-free, adding that she tries to maintain the same routine with her children.
When asked about cooking, Sophie admitted she delegates in the kitchen. “I’m not a very good cook. I would do jacket potato with beans and cheese for my guests, but they all have quite refined palettes. I don’t invite them over. I go to theirs!”
She talked fondly about Milky Way chocolate as her daily go-to treat and shared her love for her favourite New York City salad, which is no longer available since the restaurant closed down.
Sophie also spoke about her acting career, revealing she has never watched Game of Thrones despite starring in it for ten years. “It’s horrible watching yourself,” she said. “But I loved making it. It was the best acting class I’ve ever had.”
She described her upcoming Amazon series Steal as “high stakes, fast paced and unpredictable” and said her movie Trust involves her character hiding in a panic room after a scandal hits.
Reflecting on her favourite childhood dish, Sophie admitted it was spaghetti with Bisto gravy after nights out, saying: “It does work. It works. It could be quite blobby, couldn’t it?”
