Spencer Haywood tells his story on The Art of Rebounding podcast

Former Harlem Globetrotter Harold “Lefty” Williams has released an exclusive two-part interview with basketball legend Spencer Haywood on his podcast The Art of Rebounding.

The episodes, produced by The Los Angeles Tribune Podcast Network and distributed by Mission Media, explore the triumphs and challenges of Haywood’s extraordinary career and life beyond the court.

Part One, available now, follows Haywood’s journey from the cotton fields of Mississippi to Olympic gold and NBA superstardom.

He reflects on faith, perseverance and the historic Supreme Court case that changed professional basketball forever, allowing players to enter the NBA early and shaping the future of the sport.

In Part Two, out on Tuesday 14 November, Haywood opens up about his struggles with addiction, the pressures of fame and his controversial exit from the Lakers during their championship season.

He also discusses his advocacy work on Name, Image and Likeness rights for student-athletes and his personal reconciliation with former teammates Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson.

“Talking with Spencer was powerful,” said host Lefty Williams. “He’s lived through some of the most pivotal moments in basketball history and still brings so much heart, humility, and perspective. This interview goes far beyond the game – it’s about perseverance, purpose, and legacy.”

The Art of Rebounding is available on iHeart, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and The Los Angeles Tribune Podcast Network.
