The Rest Is History, is releasing a four-part special exploring Walt Disney’s life, legacy, and the cultural story of Disneyland, with Disney CEO Bob Iger joining as a special guest.
The week-long series launched yesterday, 3 November with Walt Disney: The Great American Storyteller, delving into how Disney reshaped storytelling and helped create the modern theme park.
A second episode follows on 6 November, tracing Disneyland’s roots from Victorian fairs and world expos to its global cultural influence.
The series concludes on 7 November with a double video release recorded at Disney’s historic Burbank Studios.
It includes an exclusive interview with Iger and a mini-documentary following him as he gives hosts Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook a personal tour of Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland Park, marking the site’s 70-years.
“This is an organisation with an almost unparalleled grip on the world’s imagination,” said co-host Dominic Sandbrook. “Walt Disney himself is one of the most important cultural figures of the twentieth century.”
Tom Holland added: “Disneyland is a remarkable creation; one of the most influential architectural works of the mid-twentieth century.”
Bob Iger said: “There’s mutual respect here. I’ve loved the lessons you’ve taught me, with such humour and entertainment. I thank you for everything you’ve shared and the experiences you’ve given me.”
Produced by Goalhanger, The Rest Is History reaches over 20 million monthly downloads and views, with 80,000 paying members. Following recent features in major US publications and a new TV partnership, the Disney series marks another milestone for the show.
