Voxtopica launches podcast on US First Amendment rights

A new podcast series is aiming to clarify how the First Amendment works in modern America.

Voxtopica has launched Amended! Liberty’s Guide to the First Amendment, produced with The Frick Initiative at Washington University in St. Louis. It’s hosted by professor, political analyst and TV chef Liberty Vittert Capito.

The educational series examines each right protected by the First Amendment, tracing its history and exploring how it is interpreted, challenged and defended today.

Through expert interviews and real-world examples, Liberty looks at questions around religion, free speech and press freedoms, and what the government can and cannot restrict.

The show arrives as speech, religion and media protections are frequently referenced in public debate, often without a shared understanding of what the amendment covers.

The series focuses on myth-busting and context, offering an accessible explanation of constitutional rights that are regularly invoked but not always fully understood.

“At a time when nearly everything we say or do can be amplified, scrutinized, or misunderstood, the First Amendment is both more relevant and more confusing than ever,” said Liberty. “Amended! isn’t about telling people what to think. It’s about helping them understand the rules of the road and the history that paved the way for our freedoms.”

Voxtopica chief executive Richard Fawal said podcasting provides space for deeper discussion. “Podcasting is uniquely suited to civic engagement. It creates space for nuance, history, and explanation in a way few other formats can,” he said.

Amended! Liberty’s Guide to the First Amendment is available now on major podcast platforms.
