Audible has introduced a lower priced subscription tier that includes podcast series previously available on Wondery+.
The new Standard Plan is now available in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Germany and France, offering one audiobook each month from Audible’s catalogue plus unlimited listening from a smaller curated library.
Subscribers can also listen without adverts to a selection of Audible Originals and nearly 200 titles that were previously part of the Wondery+ podcast subscription service.
Series including Dr. Death, American Scandal and Business Wars are among the shows now included in the library.
Some titles such as Dying for Sex, The Shrink Next Door and Ghost Story will be available only to Audible members, while other shows will remain available more widely but without early access or ad free listening unless accessed through Audible.
Cynthia Chu, Chief Financial and Growth Officer at Audible, said: “The launch of our Standard Plan reflects Audible’s ongoing commitment to serving the diverse preferences and listening habits of story lovers everywhere.
“By expanding our membership options, we’re maximizing access for lighter listeners while enabling publishers and creators to reach new audiences.”
Audible says early testing of the plan in the UK and Australia showed strong acquisition and retention results, with a double digit increase in new member sign-ups compared with earlier offers.
The company expects the new tier to bring millions of additional listeners into its audiobook and spoken word service during the next year.
Audible will continue offering its Premium membership, which includes access to the full listening catalogue alongside a monthly credit to purchase an audiobook to keep permanently.
