The UK Wine Show celebrates 20 years of weekly podcasting

One of podcasting’s longest running independent shows has reached a major milestone after publishing weekly episodes for two decades.

The UK Wine Show is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, having launched on 2 June 2006 and continued without interruption ever since. Produced by UK wine education company ThirtyFifty, the podcast has now released more than 850 episodes.

It began before the arrival of the iPhone and before Spotify became part of the podcasting landscape. At the time, podcasting was still a developing medium, making the programme one of the earliest dedicated wine podcasts.

Over the past 20 years, the podcast has maintained a weekly release schedule while building an international audience. According to figures from the last 90 days, listeners have downloaded episodes in more than 60 countries.

Recent audience data shows the United States accounted for 21% of listening, with the United Kingdom representing 18.5%. Across Asia, listeners in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and China made up approximately 24% of the audience combined.

To mark the anniversary, the podcast has revisited one of its earliest interviews from 2006. The episode reflects on how both the wine industry and the podcast sector have changed during the past two decades.

The achievement highlights the longevity that independent podcast producers can achieve through consistent publishing.

While many podcasts launch each year, relatively few maintain a weekly schedule over such a long period – as highlighted in WhichPodcast’s recent Podfade Report.

The UK Wine Show continues to be produced independently by ThirtyFifty and remains focused on interviews and commentary from across the global wine industry.

New episodes are released every Friday through podcast platforms worldwide.
