Toni Collette will voice Miss Marple in a new Audible Original adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Murder at the Vicarage, set for global release on 13 August.
This audio drama marks a significant addition to Audible’s ongoing collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited, following previous Poirot adaptations.
The production brings together a cast including Kit Harington as Reverend Leonard Clement, Calam Lynch, Eliot Salt, Jasmine Jobson, Katy Wix, Lolly Adefope, Billy Postlethwaite, Hugh Dennis, Leo Reich and Vicki Pepperdine.
Listeners will experience Christie’s classic mystery, which first introduced amateur detective Miss Marple, in a new audio format.
The story unfolds in the village of St Mary Mead, where Colonel Protheroe is found dead in the vicarage study.
While suspicion initially falls on the Colonel’s wife and her alleged lover, the investigation soon widens to include a range of villagers, each with their own secrets and motives. Miss Marple’s perceptiveness is central to unravelling the truth behind the murder.
The adaptation is written by BAFTA-nominated Vicki Pepperdine and features an original score by Wasia Project. Hat Trick Productions is producing the drama for Audible, with sound design in Dolby Atmos to enhance the listening experience.
Aurelie de Troyer, Head of Audible Content, International, commented: “Following our acclaimed Poirot adaptations with Peter Dinklage, we’re thrilled to continue our collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited by bringing Miss Marple to life in this immersive audio drama.
“Toni Collette is phenomenal as Christie’s beloved detective, capturing both her sharp intellect and her understanding of human nature.”
James Prichard, CEO and Chairman of Agatha Christie Limited, added: “It is great to be producing another of these original audio dramas with Audible. It is particularly exciting to be transferring our attention to Miss Marple, who is so brilliantly brought to life by Toni Collette.”
The Murder at the Vicarage will be available exclusively on Audible on 13 August and is available to pre-order now. Audible membership may be required.
