Chart topping dark comedy fiction podcast Jackie the Ripper returns
Jackie the Ripper is back for a second series after topping the fiction podcast charts last Halloween.
Everyone knows the story of Jack the Ripper, the unidentified serial killer active in and around Whitechapel in 1888, responsible for the brutal murders of at least five women.
In the first series of this comedy drama, listeners discovered there was a new serial killer terrorising East London, 133 years later. But this time around, it is men who are the victims of dark murders. The kind that leaves them penis-less with their testicles in their mouth. In a twist of fate, fiction and feminism, the perpetrator behind these gruesome acts is a woman: Jackie the Ripper.
Series one ended in chaos. While hapless detective Frederick Abberline’s main suspect – a fellow officer, no less – was in custody, there were two more murders, each captured and plastered all over social media by the killer.
Now, extremely paranoid, slightly clueless and definitely over-caffeinated, Abberline must conduct his woman-hunt all over again as the culture war around the case intensifies and his career crumbles around him.
Jackie still roams the streets with four victims in her wake. She’s ready for more and she promises the next will be her finest work.
Jackie the Ripper is written by Joel Emery and directed by Adam Jarrell, the pair behind hit mockumentary podcast, The Offensive which has reached 2 million downloads, making it one of the UK’s biggest ever fiction podcasts.
The Five-part comedy drama series, produced by Stak, is back from Monday 28 March, with new episode every weekday, available on all podcast platforms
