BBC Radio 4’s When It Hits The Fan has added Farzana Baduel as co-host, bringing new insight into weekly analysis of reputational crises.
Farzana Baduel joins David Yelland on the podcast, which examines the communications strategies behind major news stories and how organisations respond when events escalate.
The programme focuses on the role of crisis managers, spin doctors and the wider influence industry in shaping public narratives.
Each episode looks beyond headlines to explore how stories develop and the decisions made by public figures and institutions under pressure.
Farzana is a strategic communications adviser and Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Curzon PR.
Her work centres on reputation management, narrative strategy and high stakes communications, advising governments, corporations, NGOs and institutions in the UK and internationally.
In her first episode, Farzana and David examine a reported crisis involving the FBI Director, alongside discussion of a new Michael Jackson film as a case study in what they describe as the “PR of omission”.
The episode also looks at Tim Cook’s departure from Apple, focusing on how leaders manage high profile exits.
Farzana said: “I’ve been a loyal listener of When It Hits The Fan since day one, so joining David Yelland as co-host and stepping into the BBC is a huge moment.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into those big PR stories and debate the ins and outs of what’s really going on – and who’s pulling the strings.”
Rhian Roberts, Commissioning Editor for Podcast & Formats at Radio 4, said: “Getting the latest intel and the best insight into the PR crisis of the week is always a pleasure with When It Hits The Fan.
“We’re all delighted Farzana is joining the team, she brings some great stories and a wealth of experience to the mix.”
The show continues to air weekly on Wednesdays at 4pm on BBC Radio 4, with extended versions available on BBC Sounds.
