History Hit is releasing a slate of new podcasts, documentaries and YouTube videos throughout June, led by a three-part series on the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.
The mini-series on History Hit flagship podcast Dan Snow’s History Hit launches on 4 June and features historians Dame Mary Beard, Simon Elliott and Peter Heather.
The episodes examine the decisions and personalities that shaped Ancient Rome and contributed to the empire’s eventual decline.
Other podcast highlights include a four-part series on American History Hit marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and a month-long run of episodes on Betwixt the Sheets titled Supersluts Who Shaped History, presented by Dr Kate Lister.
On the subscription streaming service, History Hit will premiere The Ascent to Power: Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II on 11 June. Presented by Matt Lewis and Eleanor Janega, the documentary traces how the royal couple built a dynasty that ruled for more than 300 years.
Dan Snow also travels to Belize in Secrets of the Maya, available from 25 June, exploring ancient cities, sacred caves and the enduring mysteries of one of Central America’s longest-lasting civilisations.
The company’s YouTube channel will feature new videos including Exploring Victorian London, Duke of Wellington and a special episode marking 250 years of American independence, with Dan Snow answering commonly searched questions about the Revolutionary War.
Additional podcast releases across the network include episodes of The Ancients, After Dark and Not Just the Tudors.
