Idol Memories – New Podcast for American Idol Fans Hosted by Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe

Idol Memories is a new podcast featuring a series of conversations and memories about America’s iconic eight-time Emmy-winning performance show, American Idol.

The podcast is hosted by American Idol Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe, who has been a pioneer in reality television and a driving force in the world of performing arts.

Following 17 successful seasons of American Idol, Lythgoe and former American Idol contestants, producers and production team members recount their favourite memories on and off-camera in Idol Memories.

He also goes one-on-one with the renowned and notorious judges of the show and America’s favourite former American Idol winners, as they revisit some of the show’s most memorable performances and more than a few of their favourite Idol memories.

Lythgoe said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Fred Bronson and Benztown in reminiscing about some of the wonderful moments I experienced on American Idol.

“In reminding you of what happened in front of the cameras, it has brought back to me a lot of the moments you didn’t see that occurred behind the cameras. I can’t wait to tell you these stories – and I’m being helped in this by the judges, the contestants and fellow members of the production team.”

Idol Memories is available on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher and more.

In this week’s episode of Idol Memories, Lythgoe covers:

  • Taking Pop Idol across the pond to become American Idol
  • Building the show – from naming it and finding the hosts to forming the judging panel
  • Season 1 auditions – dealing with rejected singers and trying to find good ones
  • Justin Guarini reminisces about his audition
  • Paula Abdul’s struggles with Simon Cowell, producers, and the boys’ club atmosphere
