Classic FM is launching a new podcast – Classical Dreams – a collection of soothing stories to lull listeners into a calm and restful sleep.
To coincide with World Sleep Day today (Friday 18 March), the station has brought together some of its presenters to read relaxing stories to help with a peaceful night’s sleep.
Exclusive to Global Player, Classical Dreams launches at a time when one in seven Brits is sleeping for less than five hours a night.
The series launches with four episodes – with another four to follow – voiced by Alexander Armstrong, Moira Stuart, Myleene Klass and Aled Jones. They tell tales from every corner of the world, specifically places that have inspired famous pieces of classical music: the streets of Vienna, Venice’s canals, Granada’s Alhambra Palace and the Appalachian Trail.
Classic FM presenter Alexander Armstrong said: “I’m thrilled to be part of Classic FM’s new Classical Dreams podcast – it combines two loves of mine: great classical music and captivating story-telling. The memory of drifting off to sleep with a bedtime story as a child is one the cosiest I have, so it’s a real honour to be helping the whole nation fall asleep! Somehow, I’ve got to try and stay awake while doing it…”
Philip Noyce, Classic FM’s Managing Editor, said: “It’s great to launch Classical Dreams: a coming together of some of the nation’s best-loved voices and evocative stories about places – from Vienna to Venice to Granada – that have inspired writers, artists, and composers for centuries. Alexander, Moira, Myleene, and Aled are the perfect presenters to launch the podcast and we’re proud to have created a beautiful series that will bring a moment of calm to our listeners’ busy lives.”
Classical Dreams episodes are available exclusively on Global Player.
The four episodes of Classical Dreams are:
Alexander Armstrong – A Day in Vienna
Myleene Klass – A Swim in Venice
Moira Stuart – The Magical Alhambra Palace
Aled Jones – The Appalachian Trail
