New Scientist launches podcast to test brain health trends

New Scientist has launched a new weekly podcast that examines the science behind mental health and brain health advice.

Called Change Your Mind, the series is presented by Catherine de Lange and Helen Thomson.

The podcast looks at the claims behind popular wellness trends, from supplements and fasting to manifesting and exercise.

Each episode explores what scientific evidence says about keeping memory strong, mood balanced and the brain functioning well.

Catherine and Helen speak with experts in neuroscience, psychology and longevity to assess which ideas are supported by research and which do not stand up to scrutiny.

In the launch episode, which is available now, the focus is anxiety. The show explains why anxiety cannot be eliminated completely and shares three practical steps to help people manage it more effectively.

Catherine said: “We will check the facts for you. In each episode of Change Your Mind, we’ll explain what really supports brain health, helping you change your mind for the better.”

New episodes are released every Thursday on major podcast platforms, with YouTube versions to follow.
