Saga’s Experience is Everything podcast has returned with Susie Dent hosting a new six-part series.
The show resumes today, Tuesday 28 April, following the death of original host Dame Jenni Murray. The new run will feature Susie interviewing well-known figures about the experiences that shaped their lives and careers.
Susie takes over presenting duties for the next six episodes, bringing her background as a lexicographer and Saga columnist to the format. Her first guest is Johnny Ball, who speaks about his long marriage, family life and daily routines.
Reflecting on the role, Susie said she had grown up listening to Jenni and admired her approach to interviews.
She said: “Jenni had the enviable gift of allowing us to eavesdrop upon what seemed for all the world like a private conversation between two people. She will be missed by so many.”
Johnny, aged 87, shares personal stories in the opening episode, including details about his 53-year marriage to his wife Di. He said: “She’s just glorious and wonderful and keeps me on track. And we both smile all the time.”
The podcast is produced by Podmasters for Saga PLC and has released ten episodes to date. Previous guests have included Paul Merton, Prue Leith and Sir Trevor McDonald.
Across podcast platforms and YouTube, the series has reached more than 700,000 full-length views. Social content from the show has also generated over 10 million views across various channels.
Experience is Everything has been nominated for Best Podcast in the consumer category at the 2026 British Society of Magazine Editors awards, with the results due in May.
The new series continues its fortnightly release schedule, maintaining its focus on long-form interviews and personal storytelling.
