The final episode of The Conversation Hat Podcast for 2024 will be a special year-in-review edition.
Hosts Liam Taylor and Ben Pierson will reflect on their favourite moments from the last 12 months and some of their biggest blunders!
Since its launch eight years ago, the show has gradually transformed into what it is today – a weekly chat show for geeks, artists and terrible people where Liam and Ben do their best to answer questions pulled from a hat in 40 minutes.
Highlights for the special episode will include guests who have appeared across the year, such as international comedians Riki Lindhome, Michelle Brasier and Tez Ilyas; Trigger Happy from Swampleque, and music YouTuber Tantacrul.
Guest appearances on other shows will also feature. Liam and Ben both appeared on the Why This Film podcast and Liam was interviewed twice for BBC Sounds Essex with Rob Jelly on podcast marketing production and content marketing.
Plus, some of the technical mishaps that occurred including the time Ben accidentally lost an episode by tugging on a wire!
Developing a regular recording schedule has allowed the team to produce video content to promote the show, leading to a greater degree of growth in the last year, which is something they intend to build on.
Liam says: “When you start any kind of project, particularly creative projects, the only advice out there is to ‘make it good’ and ‘be consistent’. But how do you actually do that? That was the question we wanted to answer in 2024.
“Ben moving to another city could have been a huge roadblock, but it actually worked out well. Up to 2024, we’d just grab any spare hour we could to record. Sometimes we’d be rushing and that would come across in the episode.
“Now we have to pick a day every month, book a recording space, and batch our episodes – usually between four and six in one sitting.
“This has meant we now have a consistent product that is easy to produce, and it’s easy to create video promos if we only have to set the cameras up once a month.”
The Conversation Hat Podcast special year-in-review episode will be available on Sunday 29 December.
