The Guilty Feminist’s Media Storm podcast returns for series three

From the House of The Guilty Feminist, Media Storm is back for a third series of investigative storytelling.

Created by multimedia journalists Mathilda Mallinson and Helena Wadia, the award-winning format is a news podcast that starts with the people who are usually asked last. These range from illegal immigrants to sex workers and survivors to prisoners, those the host believe are denied a fair voice in the coverage around them.

Mathilda and Helena understand this from the inside out, having previously worked in the newsrooms of some of the UK’s biggest media institutions. Their investigations and current affairs debates hear from those affected, to shed a new light on the stories.

The new series will include reformed far right radicals, police with accounts of internal racism and sexism, women in crisis zones, low-income, domestic abuse victims and chronic pain sufferers – why is medicinal cannabis only available via private healthcare in the UK? There will also be special guests in fortnightly bonus interview episodes.

Speaking about Media Storm, Deborah Frances-White, creator and host of The Guilty Feminist said: “If you’ve lost some of your faith in journalism, Mathilda and Helena are out to restore it. When they told me that they were frustrated by the way that the 24-hour news cycle & staff cuts had eroded the integrity of many hard-working journalists – I wanted to help them do something about it. It was the first thing that I felt that The House of the Guilty Feminist simply must do.

Their youth, joy, energy, spirit, compassion and humanity brings each story to life in a way that speaks to the engagement that Guilty Feminist listeners expect.

“It’s a privilege to get in their car every week and join them on the trail, as they introduce us to people we need to know and hear from and reveal truths to us that will change the way we think, make us question what we’re told and, I hope, changed the way we act and advocate.”

Media Storm won Best Current Affairs podcast at the 2022 British Podcast Awards. It’s available on all podcast platforms.
