80s stars to feature in launch episode of new podcast for Swansea

The first episode of a new podcast for the people of Swansea will feature 80’s stars Matt Goss, Paul Young and The Selecter’s Pauline Black who are performing in the city this month.

Hosted by Swansea Born DJ and broadcaster Shaun Tilley, The Totally Swansea Podcast will hear from local legends as well as the city’s current and emerging talent.

The podcast will also shine the spotlight on singers and bands from the area, promote forthcoming gigs and events, plus promote businesses, charities and support good causes.

Shaun, who began his career on Swansea Sound and returned in the 90’s for the launch of The Wave, says: “I’m passionate about my hometown and after 38 years in a career that has given me so much, I wanted to give something back to the place where it all started.

“I’m on a mission to bring entertaining, locally devoted audio content back to Swansea whilst providing a showcase for all that’s wonderful about the area. The city is on the up in a big way and The Totally Swansea Podcast will provide a platform to celebrate its present, its past and its people.”

Also featuring in the first episode is broadcaster Steve Dewitt as ‘The Local Legend’. He’ll be chatting about his 48 years on the air in Wales including hosting the last ever show to come from the old Swansea Sound building on Greatest Hits Radio recently. Kev Johns, another popular presenter from the area will be guesting on the second episode in June.

Curly Cat Productions will produce the podcast and there are several sponsors, the first being The Big Heart of Swansea, which is launching a new app providing parking and shopping offers plus information on forthcoming attractions in the city.

The Totally Swansea Podcast will be available each month from Friday 5 May on all podcast platforms.
