The Interruption podcast looks at the first broadcast hijacking

It was 45 years ago that the Southern Television interruption took place.

Strange and unsettling, this broadcast hijacking was the first ever of its kind and has remained unsolved, until now.

The Interruption podcast is about that day in 1977 which started like any other, until 5pm.

Shortly after, Southern Television reporter Ivor Mills began his usual programme, when all of a sudden there was distortion and a voice began to speak: “This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command… Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again.”

Was it someone having a bit of a laugh, a religious group with a new tactic, or a genuine communication from outer space?

The Interruption is hosted by Tommy Trelawny, founder of the YouTube channel ‘Hochelaga’ with over 48.5 million views. He’s gained a cult following by diving into fascinating, weird and mind-boggling topics.

In two episodes a week, Tommy speaks to everyone from first-hand witnesses and UFO hunters to self-proclaimed psychics, all on a mission to solve The Interruption.

The Interruption is available on all podcast platforms from Monday 28 November.
