In Recovery podcast kicks off second season with Ulrika Jonsson

A recovery podcast from Ark House is returning with a second season featuring celebrities, addiction specialists and former residents.

IN RECOVERY is produced by Ark House, a residential 12 Step treatment centre in Scarborough that has operated for more than 30 years. Last year, the organisation received an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission.

Season two will again be presented by Ark House staff members Richard and Sam, who both share their own experiences of recovery throughout the series alongside guests.

Each 45-minute episode includes three separate interviews. One focuses on a public figure discussing their recovery from addiction, another features professionals from the recovery community, while the final segment hears from former Ark House residents sharing their experiences.

Guests confirmed for the new season include John Robins, Chris Kirkland, Sarah Cawood, Jimmy Mulville, Chris Difford and Jimmy Constable.

The first episode features Ulrika Jonsson, who discusses her experience with alcoholism ahead of reaching two years of sobriety on 5 June.

Recovery organisations and professionals appearing throughout the series include Forward Leeds, Renew, Likewise, Addictions North East and New Vision, alongside campaigners and public health figures including Anne Marie Ward and Mark Gilman.

Co- host Richard said: “Our aim is to help tackle the stigma of addiction whilst creating a safe, informative space which opens up the recovery conversation, to make it accessible to anyone.

“Not just those suffering but maybe friends and families of those struggling or to those who just want to hear more.

“We are thrilled that Season One is now in the top 20% of podcasts in the world and is being listened to in over 50 countries.”

The podcast is aimed at people in recovery, listeners considering changing their lives, and audiences wanting to understand more about addiction and recovery.

IN RECOVERY launches its new 25 part run on 1 June, with new episodes released every Monday across podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
