Natalie Cassidy has shared her honest reflections on fame, body image and her countryside life while appearing on Katherine Ryan’s What’s My Age Again podcast this week.
The EastEnders star spoke candidly about her time as a child actor and the long-lasting impact of releasing her fitness DVD.
Katherine asked if she had any regrets, to which Natalie replied: “A hundred per cent. I think it really still to this day has an effect on me. Because before doing the DVD I never ever, genuinely I never thought about weight. I might do the odd diet or lose a few pounds, but I was happy.”
Natalie went on to explain how the project changed her perspective: “I’ve always loved food and I was just really happy. I dressed how I wanted to dress… I was very happy, very confident, and then I did that and I did it for the money,” she admitted.
Reflecting on the process, she revealed the strict routine behind the scenes: “You’re not allowed to do any other exercise than the routine, the DVD. They make you do it for ages every day, a couple of times a day, and then you’re eating really small plates of food.”
Natalie added that the experience still shapes how she views herself today, saying: “I’ve never ever ever, not since doing that, got on a scale, looked at my weight.”
