The Rest Is Football comes to Netflix for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Rest Is Football will become a daily Netflix TV show for the 2026 World Cup.

Filmed in a New York studio, the series will run throughout the tournament and bring game analysis, guest interviews and behind-the-scenes insights from the world’s biggest sporting event.

Viewers will also see regular updates from reporters based in the England camp and at fan zones, giving UK audiences a close look at the action and atmosphere as it unfolds across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The move marks a major moment for the podcast, which has grown into one of the world’s most popular sports shows with more than seven million monthly streams this year.

Gary Lineker said the chance to take the format to global television during the tournament was an exciting step for the team, adding that fans can expect the same mix of analysis, honesty and humour that has shaped the podcast’s success.

He explained that filming from New York will bring a new energy to their coverage while allowing the trio to continue their daily conversations on the sport they love in front of an international audience.

Alan Shearer and Micah Richards will join Lineker as co-hosts on the Netflix version, and the series will be produced by Goalhanger. WME represented Goalhanger in brokering the deal.

The announcement of this was made in today’s episode of the show.
